The Central States Fair is delighted to announce that John Michael Montgomery and Lonestar are taking the stage on Saturday, August 24 to close out the 2024 Black Hills Energy Concert Series .
John Michael Montgomery has turned his uncanny ability to relate to fans into one of country music’s more storied careers.
Since the days when “Life’s A Dance” turned him from an unknown artist into a national star, John Michael Montgomery’s rich baritone has carried that most important of assets—believability. Few artists in any genre sing with more heart than this handsome Kentucky-born artist.
The hits followed steadily, with songs like “Rope The Moon,” “If You’ve Got Love,” “No Man’s Land,” “Cowboy Love,” “As Long As I Live,” “Friends,” and “How Was I To Know” establishing him as one of the elite acts of the era. He received the CMA Horizon award and was named the ACM’s Top New Vocalist, setting off a long series of awards that included the CMA’s Single and Song of the Year, Billboard’s Top Country Artist, and a Grammy nomination.
Joining John Michael Montgomery on the stage is the “TEN to 1” record, award-winning band, Lonestar. The band is celebrating 30 years of big career milestones, which started back in 1996 with the band’s second single, the rock-edged “No News,” and the following year’s tender “Come Cryin’ to Me” and “Everything’s Changed.” The band’s quadruple-platinum 1999 album Lonely Grill spawned four No. 1 hits (including the beloved global smash “Amazed”) and established Lonestar as music’s preeminent pop-country band—a status they’d maintain through the 2000s and beyond, thanks to songs full of energy and creative lyrics in “What About Now” and “Mr. Mom”, along with heartfelt messages and soaring melodies “I’m Already There.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have two legendary artists like John Michael Montgomery and Lonestar headlining this year,” says Fair Manager Ron Jeffries. “Their performances are expected to be highlights of the event, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience the magic they’ll bring to the stage.”
