The year is 1973 and a struggling Hollywood studio has hired a crew and cast to capitalize on the success of The Godfather by shooting their own 1940’s hit mob movie. Things get off to a bad start when on the first day of shooting, there is still no finished script. With the studio having financial and writer difficulties, the production itself stumbles along plagued by their own stupidity and Hollywood egos. The problems all fall onto the laps of the director who is tasked with making sure that actors don’t quit and this film doesn’t ruin all their careers. As the film begins to spiral down the toilet of cinema, desperate measures by both the Producers and the Director start a bon fire of a production that is making for one ‘Titanic’ of a movie.
This play takes place in 1973 over the course of shooting “Fedoras”. A 1940’s style mob movie following the story of Marco Calzone and the Calzone crime family. With the set of Fedoras in the background, there is the cast of the movie, as well as the production crew itself. A comedy spoofing all movie troupes and the stupid ideas made by those with all the money and no common sense.
A two act play written and directed by Stephen Farruggia.
