Hill City Evergreen Garden Club invites members and any interested persons to its second winter seminar of 2018. On Wednesday, February 28. Joe Hillberry will speak about Hugelkultur, "no-dig raised beds with a difference. They hold moisture, build fertility, maximize surface volume and are great spaces for growing fruit, vegetables and herbs. Hugelkultur, pronounced Hoo-gul- culture, means hill culture

Joe Hillberry is a life-long gardener and active in the Master Gardener program. His gardening experience ranges from Wyoming high country to Indiana and the mixed soils of the Black Hills. Hillberry currently has a large garden in Rapid Valley that includes a three-year- old Hugelkultur mound on which he grows squash.
