ABOUT Rapid City BMX
The Rapid City BMX Association, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of BMX racing in the scenic Black Hills. We are a sanctioned race organization through USA BMX. This 2018 season marks an incredible achievement for our program. We opened a new facility in Robbinsdale park with one of the best tracks in the Midwest. Three time Olympic Track Builder, Tom Ritz with TRD ( www.tomritz.com/ ) has come to us with his 25 years of track building experience and has constructed an Awesome track that anyone will be happy and challenged to ride.
We are managed and run by 100% volunteer effort.  The Association is guided by a Board of Directors who helps set the business plan and financial operations of the organization. We have made a serious investment in upgrading our facility, building a separate Strider™ track, and providing an exciting family-oriented activity that teaches the value of hard work, dedication, and most of all, having fun.
We race on Monday and Wednesday nights, registration is 5:30pm to 6:15pm with racing to follow directly. First time of racing is $1. With a current USABMX membership, the nightly races cost $8 per rider, per class, and $3 for Strider riders. Season runs mid-May thru September.
Kids can start anytime through the season racing BMX bikes from 2 on up; mom and dad are more than welcome to bring their bike too. Rapid City is the Home of Strider Bikes and we have a separate division and track for kids 2 to 5. We have 3 classes of riders; novice, intermediate, and expert. We try our best to group kids in as close of a class/age matrix as we can and have a race for everyone.
We have a members practice on Monday evenings at 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Afterwards, the track is open to the public to try it out. Anyone or any age can ride, we just require they have long sleeves, pants and a full-face helmet. We have helmets at the track for free to borrow. Bring a bike* they are used to riding, no need for a specialized equipment.
*Note: pegs and reflectors must be removed.
Come on out, watch or join in the fun. For more info, please call 605-891-0655.
